Encaustic painting by local artist Christine Deemer. These "hot wax" paintings are created using beeswax and demar tree resin heated to 180 degrees. Oil paint and natural pigments are added for color and texture, building up on surfaces such as birch wood. The wax is layered and manipulated on the surface with heat or flame.
Size: 5"x 5" x 1" on panel
Wax is moisture resistant, mildew and fungus resistant, and unappetizing to insects - - these paintings can withstand the test of time.

About the Artist
Christine is drawn to nature and scenes of serenity. She wants the viewer to have an intimate experience in the moment. Water and the ocean are transcending and mesmerizing. Christine particularly enjoys the defining edge between the water and wet sand, the droplets among the popping sea foam, the sand and bubbles within a wave, or how the water moves. Her work provides a small break from the daily grind of day-to-day life.
